Judy Marie Bruce

October 2, 1943 — March 4, 2025

Snohomish

Judy Marie Bruce (née McClung), age 81, of Lake Stevens, Washington, reconnected and joined with her son Brian on Fat Tuesday / March 4, 2025, of acute respiratory failure, in Snohomish Washington at the Snohomish Senior Center after having a fun day that included playing bingo with her new friend, Yvonne Meredith.

Born on October 2, 1943, in Fayetteville, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Helen & Oliver Leren, and the late Rockford McClung.

Judy graduated from Renton High School in 1961, and married John Watson Bruce on February 27, 1966. They recently celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary.

Judy wholeheartedly relished working as the office manager of the Brain Injury Association of Washington State, and volunteer coordinator for Delta Rehab in Snohomish, Washington.

Judy’s extracurricular activities included: homemaking, crocheting, button-making, sewing, cross-stitching, doll lamp-making, frustrated pencil-making, ceramic-ing, diamond artcrafting, quilting, puzzling, word searching, crossword-ing, Scrabbl-ing, camping, bingo-ing, casino-ing, traveling, clowning, holiday decorating, and was a huge participant in general fun-having and merry-making! She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by husband John Watson Bruce of Lake Stevens, Washington; her two daughters - Tracy Lynn Bruce of Lake Stevens, Washington State, and Sarah Nean Bruce of South Redondo Beach, California; brother William McClung of Tennessee; sister Juanita Heil of Maryland; Brother-in-Law Ron Grant of Scotland. Her nieces and nephews include Denise Heil Johnson of Maryland; Fiona Grant of Scotland; James Grant of Scotland; Debbie Taylor of Tennessee; Bill McClung Jr of Michigan; and Helen Marie Richards of Tennessee.

Preceding Judy in death was her only beloved son Brian Sutherland Bruce of Washington State; parents Tommie Helen and Oliver Leren of Washington State; father Rockford McClung of West Virginia; brother Hugh Heil of Washington State; infant sister Dreama Dawn of West Virginia; brother-in-law William Bruce of Scotland, sister-in-law Sheila Grant of Scotland; sister-in-law Nean Bruce Knox of Canada; brother-in-law Graeme Knox of Canada, and nephew John Bruce Knox of Canada.

Her daughter Tracy lovingly served as her primary caregiver the past 5 years and Judy let her and family know that she did not want a traditional funeral, so there won’t be any formal services. Instead, Judy had a vision of a “big ol’ party” to celebrate her life. And guess what? The family is planning her Celebration of Life for early summer 2025 in Snohomish, Washington! For those who feel propelled to help celebrate, stay tuned because the family will keep everyone posted with all the details as they come in.

In lieu of cut flowers, the family requests that donations - in the name of JUDY MARIE BRUCE - be made to the Snohomish Senior Center, a Charitable 501(c)(3) Foundation. ‘‘The center offers over 50 programs and services each week to more than 1000 members, and promotes the physical, emotional, intellectual and economic well-being of adults through a variety of activities, services and opportunities for learning, participation, and socializing both at the center and elsewhere.’’ Visit the center’s website - https://www.snohomishcenter.org or their location at 506 4th Street Snohomish, WA 98290. People can also donate their gently used items at the Fabulously Frugal Thrift Store of Snohomish Washington, owned and operated by the center. The senior center says that proceeds from their thrift store substantially support their many programs. Each time someone thrift shops or donates gently used items, they help support the center AND celebrate Judy Bruce’s life!
